Family business in the fifth generation
Since 1905, our family has dedicated itself to the old craft of cooperage. Our main focus was initially on the production of vats, smaller wooden barrels and wooden bathtubs. Today, the main demand is for wooden barrels for storing wine and schnapps. What has remained unchanged over the years is the high quality of our products, which is based not only on the careful selection of the wood but above all on its inimitable craftsmanship. We pay particular attention to apprentice training in our company, which contributes to the excellent performance of our trainees in their final apprenticeship examinations. Son Georg Benninger has been fully integrated into the company since his final apprenticeship examination in 2013 and continues to run it with great passion and commitment. Georg successfully passed his master craftsman's examination in 2020!
Oak and acacia wood from Austria
For the production of our barrels, we use oak and acacia wood, mostly from local forests, which is exposed to the weather for 3-5 years after cutting before being processed. It gets its unmistakable odour from the air-drying process. The oval, round or small barrels are made according to old craft traditions. Machines are used to support the process. We guarantee reliable delivery times and fair prices for all our products.
Large-capacity wooden barrels for wineries
We produce round and oval wooden barrels with a capacity of 2 to 15,000 litres in our barrel and vat factory in Grafenwörth. We leave the production of barrique barrels (225 - 500 litres) to Tonnellerie ADOUR, our French partner company. Benefit from decades of traditional craftsmanship and place the production of your wooden barrels in our experienced hands! We look forward to hearing from you.
